Energy Performance Contract (EPC) Workshop was Held

Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings Project (KABEV) carried out by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, General Directorate of Construction, with the aim of reducing fuel and electricity consumption by making energy efficiency applications in public buildings, reducing greenhouse gas emissions as a result of energy saving and reducing energy costs and saving budget. Energy Performance Contract (EPC) Workshop was held on March 17, 2022 in Ankara.

The opening speech of the Workshop, where information was given about the tender process of Energy Performance Contracts (EPS) to be made within the scope of the Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings Project (KABEV), and the problems encountered during the implementation of the contract were discussed, was made by the General Manager of Construction Works, Mrs. Banu Aslan.

The workshop was held with the participation of 150 people from the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, project beneficiary public institutions / organizations, relevant consultants, contractors, suppliers, project design, implementation and Energy Efficiency Consultancy Companies.

In the first part of the workshop before noon, the Project Implementation Unit provided information on the applications carried out and ongoing by our Ministry within the scope of the Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings Project, the first Energy Performance contract process, the Energy Performance Contract-oriented tender process and technical requirements.

In addition, the project experts explained how to carry out the commissioning, measurement and verification processes in buildings where energy efficiency applications are made.

In the second part of the workshop, the participants were divided into 5 different groups and discussed the problems encountered in the implementation of the existing system in the topics of energy performance contract tender conditions, energy audit, application, measurement and verification and commissioning, and offered solutions to eliminate these problems.

The issues discussed in the workshop, in which World Bank officials also participated on-line, will be evaluated by the project team and published on the General Directorate of Construction Affairs and the project website (kabev.org/en).
